A marble casket with floral stone inlay — the Jaipur craft of pietra dura, made to hold what you keep close.
Pietra dura, or pachchikari, is the slow work of setting coloured stone into marble so the flowers look as if they grew there. This box continues that Mughal-Jaipur lineage: a lid of inlaid blooms, a body of cool white stone, sized for jewellery, letters, or a few sacred things.
More than a container. An object that earns its place on a dresser.
